It all began in 2009 with a AAA Westways Magazine that claimed to “Tour HWY 395″ in California. The only problem was, there was no June Lake or June Lake Loop in that magazine.
Where is June Lake, CA and what is the June Lake Loop? Well, it’s a very special place in California. 300+ miles north of L.A., 300+ miles East of San Francisco, with Yosemite as it’s back yard. The “Loop” itself is just that. Starting twenty minutes north of Mammoth Lakes, CA at the south junction of HWY 158, the 17 mile loop takes you through the quaint town of June Lake, past four pristine lakes, many camp sites all while surrounded by the snow capped mountain peaks that create Horseshoe Canyon, the true name to the loop.
Now, since the 2009 AAA Westways magazine didn’t put us on the map. We decided to create an event that would. And so the June Lake Loop Mountain Music Festival was born.
Since 2009 we have made ourselves a non-profit organization called JLLOOPAA, June Lake Loop Performing Art Association. We don’t do this for ourselves, we do it to share the wonder and beauty that is June Lake.
